Front Wheel Bearings

Thought I would post on my front bearing replacement. I have recently inquired and was told that the movement 6 and 12 positions was not wheel bearings and that most likely ball joints. After doing this task the play is now gone. So I guess that either or both items could be determined by an educated guess. But my play has been cured in the 6-12 position of movement.
also done the half shafts while I was in there.

Hi Nivram, Nice! Quick question. Did you have to remove the steering knuckles and take them to a machine shop to have the bearing pressed out and then the new ones pressed in? Or was this done in the drive way with special tools and some beer? Keep her going! Thanks Luroc

I have the kit to do it but my son talked me into having a shop do it. So we removed the hub assembly. The shop said one of the bearings was a bugger to get out. The main problem of doing it in the drive way is getting the hub out. The shop was an old friend so we could not put a lot of pressure on getting the job done as if it were an appointed job. ya-know how friend ships go. I think a guy could make a device to get the hub out with the Bearing removal kit, but I did not have any dimensions to work with till I got down to the hub. So I have NEW Removal kit that has not been used, It makes a good door stop. And we did with NO beer. (Not allowed on the property.)
