Hey guys...does anyone know what kind of wires i can buy for my headlights, I have a 2000s mill., which will not burn out...i had installed a pair of Nokia Xenon lights, and they proceeded to burn my wires...i was thinking if i installed a Pair of PIAA's might help and not cause this same problem...if anyone has any suggestions on what kind of wires i can install or anything else for that matter, i'd appreciate it..
thanks E.D.

Cheaper brand hid bulbs usually draw more power than they should. Which unfortunetly happened in your case. You can buy upgraded wires from what I have seen. Check online or local performance shops.
I have been running Piaa Super Plasma Bulbs, in my license plate lights, corner lights, hi and lo beams for the past year. No issues yet. Piaa use the same wattage as factory but show brighter. |

DO NOT USE FAKE HID'S. not only do they look crappy as all crap but they draw about an extra 25w. if you keep them in for awhile your fog lights start to dim greatly. Not to mention they fact that they look crappy and give you 30% LESS light. stick with stock of go real hid conversion. The fake ones will burn your wires as wel as cause other problems in the car.....including a pricey altinater.

But man, some of those aftermarket brands look darn good (ie- Eaglites Plasma Whites). But if you're afraid of fried wires or your wires are fried already, you can get a set of aftermarket heavy duty wire harness. You can order a pair of heavy duty wire harness online from places like eAutoWorks.Com (a '95 uses 9006, I'm assuming the 2000's use the same series?). Go to http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-4671.cfm to check it out. It's $18.95 a pair. ![]() I ran Eaglites 80w Plasma Whites for about 13 months without any problems until they burned out. When I put in the another set of Eaglites, they burned up my headlight wires! So I'm running these heavy duty wires I got from eAutoWorks for about 6 months now without any problems. Looks like they're able to handle the higher temps fine. In any case, just waiting for my 6000k HID conversion kit to come next week.

Also how much is it for an HID conversion KIT? thanks E.D

The Piaa's run a lot cooler than the cheap aftermarket brands, and were actually designed to go with the stock wires. So upgrading to heavy duties certainly won't hurt. Did you say your corner bulbs were clear or super-whites? Because I'm running super-white wedges at the moment, which are blue tinted bulbs that run a bluish-white when lit, and they match quite nicely with the bluish-white headlights I have going. Check out MidnightMoose.Com's range of colored wedges at http://www.midnightmoose.com/194.htm. The superwhite bulbs should be nice, and I'm tempted to buy the chromax bulbs are well, since they give out a chrome appearance, but when lit are actually artice blue. I have no idea what color artic blue looks like, but it should be very light bluish-white. Just something to consider. As for HID's, they are another story all together. Seldonseem is absolutely correct in saying they have advanced a lot since I first started investigating them many years ago, to now being available on the market for a good price. If you want top quality and service, I highly suggest the Philips bulbs and components from the conversion kit at http://www.autolamps-online.com/. They come in either the 4100k color temp (white) which runs $499, or the 6000k color temp (bluish-white) which runs $574. Yes, they are quite costly compared to other places, but my past experiences with them, and numerous owners who have ordered HID's from them, have all been positive. Their HID kits are top notch, using molded bulb base rather than glued on, not to mention they use Philips bulbs. Other cheap kits you see around may offer genuine 4100k tempurature, but going to 6000k and 8000k, all they do is tint their bulbs, just like the cheap aftermarket super-white halogens! Besides, don't go beyond 6000k if you can help it. Philips make up to 6000k only. Anything else will be a mod or knock off, and even though it's more purple, gives off a lot of glare for on-coming traffic (feedback from previous owners). A more value for money alternative, which I've heard some good things about, is the Bohmen HID 6000k Conversion kit, which you can find at http://www.proxenon.com. These kits only run $399, and also machine their parts rather than use glue. However, please hold off on Proxenon.Com, as I just put in an order last week, and they are dicking me around. Their service so far has been pretty poor compared to autolamps-online.com, which confirm my order, let me know the status, and then notify me when it is shipped. That's service! So far I've tried sending 3 emails to proxenon.com to inquire about my order, and have gotten no reply. Told them if this is how they handle their customers, to please cancel my order. I'd be willing to pay extra for the excellent service rather than get angry over crappy service. We'll see how they reply to that and I'll let you guys know. Because I certainly wouldn't want anyone from this community going through that crap. Jim

Trust me, you get what you pay for in lighting. I personally recommend www.lavalighting.com they have about the same prices and offer warrentys on all products. all phillips made molded bases the works, they even offer the rare 5400k temp if you can't decide between 4300 and 6000
