I had a short ram intake on my car awhile ago, but why can't you put a cold air intake in??

You can, but the problem lies in getting the piping around the transmissin.

I believe I remember some membes saying that due to the supercharger you should never put a cold air intake on. yet the entire concept of a well performing engine is to get the coolest, dense air possible into the cylinder, and then have the highest temp explosion(whoever said spark plugs don't increase power was wrong.)

The transmission has nothing to do with fabricating a CAI on the 2.3L...............the problem lies on the lack of space to run the tubing. The situation is worse on the 01-02 2.3L 99% of all CAI setups............route into the front bumper and rest in front of the wheel well.

Quite frankly, the performance differences on a SRI vs CAI are miniscule.

again, I find intakes to be merly a cosmetic thing, which is why I miss the amped engine sound from my sri. now a cai sounds alittle better, and it looks cooler

Has anyone ever followed their intake on a 2.5? I followed mine, it went down from the filter box, to the wheel well, a 90 degree turn to the fender, then a 90 degree turn back up to end below the fuse box. CRAZY!!!

Anyways, i was thinking of just cutting the arm down near the fender and leaving the air filter or perhaps sticking a universal cone filter down there, you think it'll work? any flaws?

Remove your front bumper.........doing so will expose space in which may be able to run a CAI setup. BTW some cutting will likely be required!
