Well Weed, I guess it kind of depends on what the sound was nd the feeling the car gave you. If you pressed the gas and the car got louder but no acceleration there might not be a problem. The millenia with the KLDE cams power band drops lafter 6250 rpm and like a rock after 6500 rpm. Max torque is at 4800 rpm on a stock millenia and max hp is at 5800 rpm. The torque of course started to drop after its max but not until after 6000 does it depress quickly as I remember. After 6500 rpm though it sinks like a rock. A bad transmission is sort of a similar feeling as hitting power wall but the car will actually feel like somethings not catching. If transmission trouble it will give the impression that you have knocked the car out of gear and it just revs and quicker.
