Thumbs up

Ok tonight I was bored, the wife sleep whatever. Anyway I normally don't do pedal to the floor top speed runs so I need some help from someone that has and has the 2.5 L engine. If you punch the pedal to the floor and keep it there, at what RPM will your car shift from 3rd to 4th. I was just curious to see what the mods I have done would truly do so i tried it. I have had the car to 115 before but it was never balls out pedal to the floor to get there. Tonight when I did it, I started in 3rd about 80 mph I guess. I know I was going faster than the limit which is 70 on this particular stretch of interstate. Anyway the car continues to climb in rpm and speed. When the rpm guage reached 6000 rpm and then a little above I became concerned that the car was not going to shift or that I was mistaken about what gear I was in. Since i was concerned I released the pedal off the floor and it imediately shifted to 4th. I am curious for several reasons. The cars acceleration was still strong, and the engine sound and feel were still quite strong. Anyway if you know where it is supposed to shift or even just where yours shifts let me know.

I will say that even though it can be expensive to mod our cars, there is extra power to be had. Cams not only supposedly give more power, but widen the power band as well to much higher rpm's. I would without a doubt recomend the mods that I have done. There is never a gut wrenching push in the back although that to is greater than stock, but the power seems to just keep on pulling. I do not know at what rpm the fuel cut-off is and I have heard as high as 7500 rpm, but it needs to be there with the J-spec cams.

Yeah the S has a redline a 1000 rpm before the 2.5 L stock to stock.

I also have a 1995 2.5L. When I floor the pedal in 3rd the tranny (when it's working shifts up when the engine reaches 6.500 rpm's. However I've noticed that after the rebuild, when I wanted to drop down for 4th to 3rd in order to overtake, I floored the pedal, hitting that kick down button underneath it, downshift occured, the car was accelerating until 6.500 rpms and then suddenly the revs started climbing drastically towards 7000 and engine roared loud, but the car wasn't accelerating anymore, completely as if you had hit the clutch(if there were any). The in order to shift up to 4th, I had to depress the pedal.
What do you think of that? Luckily the tranny is under warranty and I'm taking it to the guys who did the rebuild on Monday, but I would like to know your opinion or simply learn how is it with your cars. Do you think they ****** it up? or maybe didn't repair everything?
