I've been looking in to purchasing a Millenia. I've searched through Ebay and there are quite a few deals. I'm looking into purchasing a Millenia from the period of 95-99'.

Obviously, at first glance it appears I'd rather go with the Millenia S version, seeing as you have another 40 HP and it has been rated as one of the 10 best engines created. Does anyone have the 0-60 times on the the base Millenia and also the S version? As I noted earlier, I'm looking somewhere between 1995-1999. If anybody has the 0-60 times around these years I'd like to know about them. I've looked all over and everybody seems to say something different. Apparently the base version runs in the low 9's and the S version runs in the mid 7's. Anybody know if this is correct.

Also, I'd just like to know of anything else regarding the engine that you all may know of and that I really don't. Any other information about the Millenia in general would be appreciated. From what I can tell, it looks like a solid vehicle.

Thanks,
Mike

Greetings!

I have a '99 base model (2.5L) and love it. Never had any problems with it (that I didn't cause ) aside from an O2 sensor turning on the check engine light every once in a while. I actually didn't replace it, and it hasn't done it for a long while now.

I read just today that the 0-60 on the S version is 7.4 seconds, and I think the base is 9.2.

I've been lookin on ebay too for another one (thinking of giving mine to my mom... she loves it too ), they have some pretty good prices but then again the condition is always somewhat questionable.

IMO, and that of some other people, the '99-00 is the happy medium of looks. The '95-'98 have an older, not quite as refined look to them, and the '01-current are trying a little too hard to be cool Though I do kinda like the lights on the current models...

From everything I hear, the '95 S is the fastest of them all. But if you plan on putting some performance under the hood, it's VERY hard to find anything for the S model. The 2.5 engine is close to the same as the one used in the Probe GT, MX-6 and 626, so there are at least a few performance parts that could be used.

mazda rates the engines though allyears as the same, although I think the 97 and 00 are the fastest. with just a chip and intake I run 7.1 at the track and with gearing I ran 6.8..still not very good....but thats where nirtious comes in  the base model is in the high 8's, depending on driver fat

take **** good care of it, do all your services and tune ups, if you get a check engine light be at the dealership 7am the next day. the only thing I would look out for is the o2 sensors. I personallu have never had a problem with them, my only issue was a back cat at 34k, but thats under warrenty for like 80k 9 years or something

the late 94/95's are the fastest... The difference is quite noticeable in the S over the L. Only thing with the S is make sure the SC is okay and make sure it's not leaking oil like mine was. I don't necessarily think the oil leaking is a common problem with S models it was just luck of the draw for me.
