I have replaced the plug wires, plugs, and cleaned the distributor and rotary button and my car ran right for about 10 miles and then it started again. It runs just as smooth as a whistle until the motor gets warmed up and then it starts missing until it hits about 55 to 60 mph and then it smooths out again. It really gets bad with the a/c on. i have also replaced the fuel filter and that didnt help. The check engine light has never came on. Can someone please help.

Do you have the Miller-cyle engine?
Most drivability problems with this engine seem to be traceable to vacuum leaks. Happened to me before. I would recommend everyone to first check all vacuum hoses and tee's before spending any money on diagnostics or repairs. Has anyone else had similar experiences? |

i had a similar acceration problem wit my car......but my problem was dat the stupid radiator sprung a leak and the car over heated and the head cracked, which caused antifreeze to enter the chamber and the cylinders were misfireing....stupid 2.3.. i dont kno if u saw the plugs when they were removed.....but if they look like they hav some sort of abnormal residue possibly whiteish...it could be antifreeze(dont get confused wit carbon). U can also check ur oil for antifreeze.

Mine was out for over two months when we changed the sparkplugs and some corroded hoses popped off and we weren't sure where they went. Once we got the hoses straightend out, it would have the same problem with the acceleration once the car got warmed up. It ended up being a bad solnoid valve, so I'd check into that also.
