does anyone know where can i get a shifter cable

i have a 98 millenia, i recently purchased a new starter. as the mechanic put the new starter in, he noticed that my shifter cable is broken. he has been calling around to find the part but everyone he calls doesn't have it in stock. i had my car for like 3 yrs and this is the first time i have had problems with it. if you have any kind of info for me let me know.
