I just picked up a receiver unit from DANNY's 96 milly he was parting out for my base l 98. I also picked up a matching transmitter from ebay. and it was all plug and play. Oh only problem was couldn't find the antenna plug in my trunk so I just used an old radio antenna and ran it along the trunk and it worked. nothing will beat factory. Not sure if the 96-00 will work with 95 but I would look on ebay for a receiver unit or a salvage yard.

WHere did you get the auto-dim mirror? [/b]
Do an eBay search for "OnStar". Any mirror from a GM vehicle with OnStar buttons on the rearview usually also has the auto-dim and compass feature. I got mine from a 2005 Cadillac CTS for $40. Of course the OnStar buttons don't work, but they look cool.

That one should work. Looks like a standard wedge mount. The factory mirror is held on by two screws that attach to a metal plate glued to the glass. Don't buy the plastic wedge mounts that seem to be available everywhere with adhesive in one package. They're too fragile and will need regular replacement. I went to a local windshield replacement shop and picked up a steel wedge mount and JB Welded it on top of the OE mount.

The mirror only needs switched 12v power...the sunroof is switched but since you have no sunroof, a wire running down the A-pillar to the fuse block will work too (I tied mine into the cig lighter circuit)

Okay. I just received my second keyless entry unit from a MW member and gave it another go. Before, with the first keyless entry unit I got, it would not complete the diagnostic properly. With the new keyless unit, it's was no different. Something else is wrong.

Frustrated, I went through the shop manual again hoping to find something that would shed some light and I *thought* I found it. The Door Lock Relay or "timer" is different on models w/o keyless entry. Lucky me, I bought a millenia grab bag box off eBay a while back with one of those in it.

Swapped the door lock timer with one from a keyless-equipped car and reran the diagnostic. Now, it's doing something different, but it still doesn't work.

I still can't get the trunk release part of the diagnostic procedure to function and I still can't get the remote to program. The door lock timer did allow the door lock functions that didn't work before to work now though.

Anyone have any thoughts as to what else I'm missing? I scoured the trunk lid/lock section in the manual and nothing stands out.

I was never able to get the diagnostic to work but went straight to programing and was able to program all four buttons but the trunk release didnt work. This was about two weeks ago so I havent been able to try and diagnose the problem. I'm assuming it must be a relay or something. Not much info but hope it helps.

I bought a used remote off ebay a few months ago, and it wouldn't work. Fresh battery, still no good. So I took the back off the remote, peeled back (carefully!) the rubber button sheet, and cleaned the contacts (carefully!) with an eraser. Worked like a charm.
