No no this is not the way they are supposed to do. They should use VIN to get your dublicates done. That dealer seems like trying to make some more money that way..

Around here the dealer charges $80 for a copy of the key and they have to ship it out for a few days to get done. I found a local locksmith who has the special machine and he charges $20. Just ask local locksmiths if they know anyone that can laser cut a luxury car key.[/b]

Dude,

I just copied my key 2 weeks ago. The place name was Golden Bear Locks, this is their number (614) 733-5625.

Call and check if they have a shop near you. Do you know who gave me this number?LOL The dealer itself haha... They charged me $35.

That was the cheapest I could find actually. And it's not laser cut... The machine principle is very simple... There are 2 plates and 2 probes. One does not move it just rotate with the master kay and the other one spins to burn the key to be copied alone with movement. Very simple.

Check with them before you go to the dealer or ask the dealer for cheaper one like I did lol.
