Alright,

I got ripped off then

I have a question. Flush, to flush a tranny, don't you have to add something first and run the car or 5 minutes then change the oil? Just like engine flush?

Or just oil change for the transmission means flush? I don't remember seeing a tranny flush can on the shelve....

The cooler idea is really great... I noticed that in stop and go traffic the car gets really hot and the tranny performance drops very very badly!!

Is there away to make one on my own? Like use another cooler and put a fan on it? Or just put a fan on the existant cooler? Did anyone try that?

What kind of fan needed to do such a job? Resist heat coming from the engine compartment... And small in size?! I think just putting 2 fans on the stock cooler will do the trick... I don't know how big it is though...

I'll call the dealer tomorrow and ask them how much they charge for a tranny flush... i don't have a second person to help me with the flush and I can't do it on my own it will drive me nuts.

When the tranny shop changed my oil, they dropped the pan and showed me the magnet... It was full of small particles... The thing is, they cleaned the fliter and reused it.

Ok now, the site that XedosMan provided, they talk about the filter being insuffcient to filter the oil. Have anyone tried to install an auxilary filter as they recommend? Sounds good to me if it's easy to do!

They showed me the filter inside and you can see through it... I don't think it's enough to filter the oil!! I don't know how they call it a filter... I think to catch things if they break inside lol

Thanks, I'm sure you're right. Is it ok to use sealant or should I get a new gasket? One more thing, is Pennzoil Dexron III a decent fluid? Came by a bargain offer, 12 qrts for $110.[/b]
Sealant holds well for me for 8 months now. I used the gray sealant which is for high torque applications (most Japanese). Cant you find dexron6 which is superior?

Why is it so much more expensive where you are? Here I could get 12 quarts of SuperTech Dex III for less than $30. I would think that Pennzoil is probably fine, I have used their products before with good luck. It is probably at least as good as the walmart brand I have used and it works well. How do you feed the fluid in the line while flushing? Is a normal funnel enough? I really want to try that method but I am afraid that I will run into problems.

You definitely need a hand, preferably non-female just in case :P

Ask him how much he pays for gasoline Tranny fluid every 50000 km is nothing compared to that...

I seafomed by myself and it was very hard to do alone, holding the throttle up with one hand and feeding through the PCV tube with the other. I bet a tranny flush would be much harder than that. I don't want to know how that would go if I didn't have help.

I plan to make a tranny flush guide, which means I'll need my son to take pics and crank the engine as well as STOP IT FAST if necessary... I believe the fresh fluid has to be force fed to get in as fast as the tranny pumps it out. I'll use a drill pump.

Trust me, $110 is a bargain here, we're talking sub half price of Shell...

Gas? I hope there is nobody here with a heart condition... With todays price and currency $7,68 for a US gallon. US $ is weak now though, but it has been more than $6 for years.

It's not that bad. You get used to it. After all I don't need health insurance. And above all it's worth every penny not having to listen to a 40mpg Vastewagen TDI engine.

That is a very ingenious way to do it, I will have to try that the next time I seafoam.

Excuse me for asking, but why don't you apply throttle on the throttlebody?

Thanks for your reply, I didn't notice it untill now due to newer posts.

Surely I can get Dexron VI (6) too, but my tranny seems to be happy with Dexron III. And I haven't even dared to investigate the price of Dexron VI here

Anyone want to ship me 3 gallons? J/K

I need two hands for seafoam, either someone should keep the revs up or .... Actaully I didnt apply throttle second time. Well it still runs..

I can send to you but doubt with the shipping it will be cheaper.
