My 97 2.5 parking brakes are dragging and anything i do to adjust them is not solving the issue. it is causing a vibration from the rear and i have been dealing with this for over a year now and i am sick of it. i am about to just take the pads out for good let me know if you know of any known causes of this or if it would be ok to just take out the e pads dont think it would cause any safety issues.
i have replaced the rotors now and i believe my bearings are starting to go bad because of this.

Can I ask why or how you came to the conclusion that the parking shoes are dragging? What are your symptoms?
Did you adjust the cable from the console area? I can tell you one thing.... if they were dragging for a year.. your pads are not the issue. If they were dragging they would have eaten themselves up in less than a day. What have you done already to remedy the problem?

Based on dragging e-brake being the problem, you should check the e-brake cables are moving freely by hand, after dismantling the e-brake assembly. Since you have new discs, you should adress this now. If/when your cables are fine, and brake liners (new or old) are decent, adjust them outwards untill the drum barely fits over them. Final adjustment after drum is in position: untill the drum is clearly dragging, enough to barely rotate by hand, and then inwards again untill they barely drag, rather just touch the drum. After this is done on both sides, adjust the e-brake lever untill they apply fully on 7-9 clicks on the lever. Then take a ride, applying e-brake to wear them in abit (not the entire ride). After that readjust the lever if necessary to obtain 7-9 clicks. I use copper paste on moving parts like adjustment threads, be careful with other lubricants as e-brake effect will be reduced if it hits the drum surface. Maybe a little spray of lube on the cable attachment assembly. Finally ensure they don't drag with e-brake lever down, there should be at least 2-3 clicks before they start engaging.
This may not be completely according to FSM, but works for me

Thanks guys. i should had explained a bit clearer they do drag but it is at one point on either one of the shoes not all the way round. i have replaced the rotors and lube and cleaned all the components and actually the shoes look in great shape some how but i know they drag. with the caliper off and spinning by hand even with the ebrake adjusted all the way in it hits and drags so i will check the cables tomorrow and see if thats where it is but i have pulled it on while driving they do engage and disengage last night i did it again and after i released them a couple hundred feet later i heard a pop noise and thought i seen something flying from the corner of my eye i visually inspected when i got home and couldnt notice anything
