Ok, so basically my Millenia has just been sitting for almost a year and a half now. I really need to find out what is going on with it. The last time it was in the shop was for new spark plugs because I was pulling a code for misfire on cylinder 5. Well, I got that fixed, and he switched one of my packs to see if that was the problem, so I wouldnt have to waste money for a new one if I didn't have to. I drove it for a day, was on my way back there to get it inspected, the dreaded CEL comes back on. I get there and he pulls a totally different code. (I can't remember it-I should have wrote it down) but it had to do with one of the cats. all that I can seem to remember that sounds familiar is Bank 1. (And there's a left and right correct?) or something..

Basically what happens is, the car starts fine, it idles ok ( a little rough, but not too bad) once you go to put it in gear, it just wants to die completely. When we were pulling into our garage, he got it going pretty fast and said it seemed to run fine. (Also, the CEL blinks.. I know, bad bad bad) I have some pictures I took once we got it jacked up. If you can just tell me what exactly I'm looking at, that would be nice. Also, I included the slip from my last visit to show exactly what I got done.

1998 S by the way

The really rusty heat shield (?) was basically disintegrated, so we took it off

This , I imagine is the first cat..

Rusty, not garaged, sat outside, not moved for a yr and a half...

And there's a couple more HERE

First of all ngk2477 is a completely wrong plug. Check the gap, it is wrong. I fried 2 coils after changing to iridium sht.

For the problem it can be anything. A bad cat shouldnt cause the car to stop. Get the code and write it here. Should I have to guess, it is a vacuum problem from the spark plug job.

Ok, wow, that sucks, are you positive those are the wrong plugs. If so, I think it's been too long since he did them to bring it back and say.."hey, I need different plugs in this"

I can't drive the car anywhere so the only way to get my code checked would be to find someone with a reader, or buy one.

Well, if this is the problem, I didnt drive it much after it got new plugs, so hopefully, nothing else should have gone wrong with it?

EDIT: Also, could you suggest a good spark plug I should use.

Those are wrong plugs. Just wait and see what others will say. Originals are the best plugs you can get. You dont have to spend time on what to buy. Just buy the factory plugs next time..

NGK SPARK PLUG STOCK # 3741 PART# PZFR5F LASER PLATINUM

I found from ebay for $30/6, installed myself and voila. I drove with 3 iridiums for 20k miles (though I paid for 6 plug change I realized, after 2 years, that the guy didnt take the hassle of changing the rears). 2 coils fried with iridiums thats all. They are not like you shouldnt drive at all.

I think there are readers on ebay for $30. If you couldnt borrow from anyone, its not a bad investment.

Alright, thank you.

So do you think it's safe to say I can drive it to a shop to get it fixed.. I would attempt it myself, but it's a little scary.. (and I know most people say you have to learn to work on the Millenia yourself.) but I'd rather not eff something up.

It is safe. If you go to a shop tell them you will get 6 old plugs back. And verify they are indeed from your car. Just to make sure, happened to me
