Just got the Milly smogged yesterday, finally! I had CEL problems, but the smog guy was coool. He reset the system, i drove a few miles and when he smogged it, the CEL didn't come on yet so the computer had not got the code yet. So it passed. By the way if anyone remebers I had P0421.

Now I wanna open this baby up a little, and either get the headers. Or I really wanna gut the cats. Has anyone done this and how. I mean I know how to gut it, but I think i seen a forum on how to gut the front bank while still on the car, but nothing about the rear bank. I think the guy who did it only gutted the front and not the rear. Which doesn't sound like a good idea though. I could be wrong?

Yeah gutting just one would be a bad idea. Last guy that did it right had to at least hack off the curved pipe on the rear one and have it welded back on after gutting it. No way headers would pass a visual inspection though.

So it's a good idea to gut them if doing both?
I was thinking that also about the visual.

Gutting them is a real pain. If your catalysts are like mine, they are weak but not plugged. I have a scanner I use to clear the codes when they come up every couple of months or so.
