What do you think - is this worth it on a car with 137,000 miles on it?

I have to replace the air intake hose anyways. When I bought the car, the whole hose was covered with duct tape. I haven't touched it, because its running great, But I know I have to replace it.

My car has 190K miles on it now. I think its worth it. In fact anything I can do to fall in love with her again is worth it to me. It has been paid for since day one. The only money I put in it now is for routine maintenance and anything I can do to better the driveability.

Point taken. Mine's been paid for since day one, too. Of course I only paid $2,350 for mine. I guess if I plan on keeping the car for a while, its worth the cost.

I know there aren't any tests back yet, but what are your expectations - a 5-15 hp increase maybe?

Excluding the effect of cleaner filter 5hp would be optimistic IMO.

Without putting it on a dyno I can't say for sure but in all honesty doing away with all that accordion style intake tubing certainly made a HUGE difference. When you start to pull it all out you'll understand why. That crap snakes all the way up into the fenders and has some ridiculous bends in it. The trade off is sound. With this intake you will have an immense increase in engine intake noise. Some people prefer that; some don't. I would be willing to bet that it makes >5 hp gains at least (even on a bad day).

Lots! yours should be at your door step in a few days.

Its insane how well the factory design is at keeping noise down. They must of had some serious acoustical engineers working out all those resonant chambers and locations. The engine sounds mean and in my case a lot meaner than its bite.

That little 2.5 of mine takes a licking and keeps ticking but unfortunately doesn't have much go to it these days nor will she just roll over and die now.

Doh! I guess that is what I get for performance! I love that my Milly is sooo much quieter than my wife's 6 - but I hate that her 4 banger could beat my V6!

Turbo? How come?

Yel-low is the sound annoying? I mean I know remus sounds good at first but if you cruise couple hours on highway it is annoying.. Is it the same deal?

The sound is most noticeable at WOT. Cruising and all other times the engine just has a slightly deeper note. Nothing annoying.

I guess my only peeve is that I am such an "anti-rice" promoter that my car (190K+ miles tired ass engine & a tranny about to eat it)at least sounds like it has some go with the intake on it but in all actuality it doesn't. Blipping the throttle brings out this very deep throaty sound. The sound is very intimidating and I could see how a ricer in some hopped up Civic sitting next to you at a light could mistake it as an invitation.

Regardless, I hate having horsepower tied up in all that fancy OEM tubing. Trashing the OEM setup in favor for a hi flow CAI made the most change performance wise than any other thing I have done to the car. Anything I can to do upgrade the big three is a worthwhile upgrade for me.

I know the CAI would be a real performer on the fresher engines but mine has seen its better days.
