Im getting ready to get my vacuum tubes changed because of the tcs/tcs off problem robbing me of ALOT of power, and its driving me up a wall to not have the full power of my car a majority of the time. The problem is, i dont have the 1526 code that signifies a problem with one of the solenoids.

SO what i really need to know is what all can cause this "limp home" mode??

there are a whole bunch of things that can cause limp home. 1525/26/40 is just one of the most common. if something is wrong with the transmission, it can go limp home mode to protect itself. if there is something wrong with the engine, the ecu can put it in limp home mode. but limp home isnt just tcs off/tcs, it also will not let the engine rev above about 2500.

My 97 had this same issue with the trans, took it to a trans repair place and was told complet rebuild. I found that if I shut it of that it would reset its self and was good to go some more. but was a pain. Its a solinoid/or a pump in the trans that needs replaced, and so I traded for my 02 with no MIL showing and got the heck out of there before it was to late. but you probebly got it fixed by now.

If you were in "limp" mode, you'd know it. What is happening to you is that the engine is "bogging" down on acceleration. The TCS lights are a dead giveaway to a vacuum problem, however, just changing your lines and connectors is not enough. You have to also remove and test the vacuum solenoids.

For example, I changed all of my lines and connectors and I was still having the TCS lights problem (no codes) and bogging down on acceleration. Tested all of the solenoids and found that the ABV and EGR "vent" solenoids were not functioning properly. If one or both of those solenoids is bad you will still have what amounts to a vacuum leak.
