Default Transmission Fluid?

What type of Tranny fluid do you guys use? I've heard good things about Royal Purple, but can I use it in the Milly Transmission?

I've been using Dexron VI for about two years now. The SuperTech Dexron VI from Walmart is probably the least expensive at a little over $3 a quart while Royal Purple is Dexron III and costs about $12 a quart. Both will work, but I'd rather have the newer spec for one fourth the price IMO.

I guess MO read on the bottle

I run on Shell Dexron III which is supposed to be partly synthetic. ATF costs a fortune here, I got two 10 litre barrels Statoil Dexron III for like $90 each and that was a bargain. The Shell fluid was like $20 per litre. Anyway my tranny shifts very smooth on the Shell fluid, big difference from the factory Dexron II.

Even though the fluid has an expense to it, there's a saying: "Grease is cheaper than metal"

Very true, when you divide cost on milage covered it means next to nothing

I don't buy fancy brand hype though.

I think we're in agreement there. If one does the proper interval changes, then Shell, TechSpec or whatever will be good. Now, the Purple Power price, seems over the top. I'm not sure what that extra money buys you? At that price, they better give me a good warranty if the tranny fails.

All the supra guys with huge horsepower and aftermarket trannys seem to swear by Redline ATF. I know its very expensive, but do any of these high $$ brands really have any added benefits or is it all in the name.

Extra money goes to manufacturer's pockets ... Is very common for a mfg. to offer products in at least 3 qualitys .. "budget, mid priced & high performance" !!.. if u check the product info to compare, ur gonna find that each one has different info.. ??..u can't reach a real comp ???.. so my advice is to be an educated buyer. do research & select what ever fit ur particular needs ..peace ..
