With my tilt wheel system, I made it to 142K before issues started happening. However, I also kept it off "auto" mode since the car was new and I barely ever manually adjusted it. Though, it does stink that the separate components can't be ordered anymore - one needs to get a big chunk of the column replaced, which isn't a cheap part either.

On my 2002, the gear indicator is on our instrument panel. I guess in 2001 with the redesign, they put that feature back into place.

Oh, and i can agree with you on the other items, too. Dent magnet - very true! Hard shifting between 1st and 2nd gear - I also experience this with my 2.5L engine, too. Apparently not only an issue with the 2.3L models.

like most of the other mazda...... The random button for the cd player...... why put a random if you cant just change track randomly, you have to press twice on the random button to have the next random track, making it going back to any other track, even the one that had just played. MY 2009 RX8 R3, does the same thing lol

LOL CDub kudos on the steering wheel. Mine worked PERFECTLY until I decided to STOP using it. When I bought the car last year I used it for about 2 mos, then after reading the stories on here, I set it like I wanted it and turned auto-tilt off. Just last week I tried to see if it'll work again and it does but it makes a clicking noise as it goes up and then back down after takin the key out an re-inserting it. I was like Nooo buddy and turned it back off. No truck-driver position for me.

Oh yeah and the gear selection was on earlier years but mazda cheaped out. Shoulda at least added it to the millenium ed. **** I have heated mirrors. Dent magnet is also correct. 6 disc bose works AMAZINGLY... cup holder isnt a biggie. Still overall its STILL the best car I've ever had.

Did I mention that she drives better than a 5-speed BMW 530i? The Bimmer may be just a tad faster
