Has anyone here tried hallowing out the two top cats and replacing the power robbing "connector" pipe by running dual pipes into a single high flow dual inlet cat. You would have to relocate the o2 sensors behind the new cat. In thery shouldnt this give a much better flow and more power? Just a thought what do you guys and gals think?
And if this idea is completely wrong please spare we the sarcasum and ball breaking, ok Guys?

Yup, been there done that.
Edit: Everything except the dual input cat. Why would you even want to do that? OEM is a single 2.25" pipe to the main cat.

Yes Sir!
As soon as I get some time to make a few more I will post up. 10000000000X better than the cast OEM manifolds. OEM cast manifold= Stupid cheap ass design. Just plain retarded. Why did they do that???

Well for you super cool guys who have done this have you had any CEL issues ? Performance increase, MPG increase? etc...
And the dual inlet cat would allow for each manifold to have better flow by eleminating the need for the Y pipe or whatever you wanna call it. |

No to the dual cat. You need an X-pipe (crossover pipe) prior to cat to balance the flow and maximize scavenging effect.

I'm super cool and I haven't done it yet. I want too though
. I want a whole exhaust setup with headers and cat back exhaust.

![]() Why they did it? They say it was to save space and weight, the K engine range was a benchmark in both aspects. But sinse when is cast iron lighter than steel tubing? And space; how come you get decent bolt on headers for GE platform cars?
