i think the 1250/1525/1540 are all related. most likely vacuum leak. when there is a vacuum leak, it can throw all kinds of strange codes. the 0404 might go away if you clean the egr valve. 1113 could be just a bad contact, might unplug/plug the connector, or look for broke wire. 1562 i cannot find in my fsm

hey keninn..thank you very much for your input..millyowner already told me that he had the same noise when his ABV solenoids went out..so I am still hoping that this noise goes away once the solenoids are replaced..

the problem is that in Chicago I haven't found a mechanic that will touch my car and I don't want to go to the dealer..

today i went back to another autozone for a second readout and was reconfirmed that I had codes P0404, P1113, P1250, & P1540..however..this time it didn't throw out code P1525 or P1562..instead it threw out code P1526..

the clerk at this autozone told me and showed me that the scanner was not properly diagnosing the codes because my onboard computer might had been reset or was resetting it self..it only had a DTC for P0404..the rest of the codes appeared but with no diagnosis..

frankly..i went again because yesterday the autozone clerk told me that my PCM was shot throwing out code P1562 and I was extremely worried..but today it didn't come up..

i hope he was dyslexic and meant 1562 to be 1526..

i think he meant 1526, which makes way more sense. this is more and more pointing to at least a leaky vacuum system

can i solve the noise problem by replacing both the vent/vacuum solenoids or do i have to replace all the vacuum lines??

and if i just change the solenoids will they go out again if i don't change the vacuum lines??

Hose failure won't cause solenoid failure and solenoids are far easier to replace than vac lines, so go ahead and replace. P1526 will always appear along with the vac or vent PRC solenoid codes, so he probably got a couple of digits transposed there. P0404 is prob just an EGR in need of cleaning. The IAT sensor I'm not sure about. You might try unplugging it and plugging it back in maybe? Not the same code, but I had a EGR position sensor code a while back, I just disconnected the harness, reconnected it, and cleared the code and it never came back.

the 2.3 engine makes this noise when it SEVERELY retards timing. I would say inspect all the vacuum lines since that will clear 80% (if not all) of your codes and or problems.

Then (and I have no basis for this other than driving this car for 10 yrs) pls check your accessory belts. I don't know why but I feel like alternator / battery could be a cause here. have the system checked for charging capacity and how old is the battery? also, look on the tensioners for the accessory belts. there should be marks on there. when the tensioner moves past the marks, it means the belts are stretched past their useful life and you may be getting slippage. again. just a hunch and probably wrong, but very easy to check

thank you for your input

I don't know how old the battery is. I just bought the car in April.

I know that the schedule maintainance on the owners manual says to have the timing belt replaced at 60K miles for the 2.3 and mine just hit 78K, but I don't know if the previous owner replaced it at 60K since I bought it from a dealer. I drove it from New Jersey to Chicago and I had the TCS problem since before I left NJ, but only when I would put the car under heavy load.

As I mentioned before, my TCS off/TCS lights don't come on constantly just sometimes when I'm driving on the highway or when I try to accelerate quickly from a stop.

But the noise that it developed was sudden. I am not mechanically inclined so I wouldn't know what to inspect and what is worse is that the few mechanics around Chicago that I have talked to don't even want to touch the car.

What I am scared most of all is that one mechanic will want to do the work and not really solve the problem. Or worst, that I don't get this problem taken care of soon and the car leaves me stranded on the road.

I have had that same noise for the last month. Now I am facing the issue where I think my supercharger went out. It doesnt accelerate all too well and smokes like a chimney from the mufflers now. Was told by my mechanic that he is 95% sure its the supercharger. He said he will find a used one for me and if it still doesnt fix it then he'll only charge me for the part and no labor but if it does fix it i gotta pay for part + labor which equals to = another arm and a leg. I wish i were an octopus the way this car has been sucking all my money, i would probably still be out of arms and legs.

I have a used one already cleaned and in excellent condition. Keep in mind it is used so I cant 100% guarantee it, but lets just say I'm 95% certain it will work.

Cost would be $300 + shipping. PM me your email and I can send you some pictures of the unit if you are interested. Still a gamble on a used unit, but better than taking a guess on a salvage unit from ebay.

bigb are you saying that the millenia s is not supposed to make a noise of a constant ticking? ive seen several youtube videos of engines running and there is an audible tick like a bike with a card in the spokes but slower. I hear this when I open my hood, but not while driving. perhaps a vacuum leak but all lines look fine.
anythng else you think it could be only one code, large evap leak, that no matter what i do returns very shortly and should not be making the car run SLOW like it does
