Default millinia timing belt ?

i have an 01 millinia with the 2.5 and it just started making a knocking type sound that would come and go. it sounds like it is coming from the timing cover, so i pulled some of the top bolts that hold the plastic front cover on and shut the engine off. when i pulled the cover back so i could see the belt, it had alot of slack in it between the rear cam and the front cam. my question is, should i have this slack and could this be the source of the noise?

"Hard" is a relative term. I don't personally think there is anything hard to it but if you've never done a timing belt job on any vehicle before then I could see how it is a hard job.

There are some tips and tricks scattered throughout the net and on here to make the job go smoothly.

You would not be able to push the tensioner in by hand. That one is def. blown.

Is the S a non-interference timing belt ? Because I had always thought that till one of my mechanics told me otherwise.

Nook Industries : Linear Actuators for Motion Control Ball Screws, Screw Jacks, Lead Screws, Linear Slides, Acme Screw, Actuator
They will at about ~$150 a pop. Cheaper to just buy the entire assembly used. I had some custom jackscrews made and they will custom make anything and everything you want. The OEM tensioner has both left and right hand screw treads so it's a pretty unique piece. I stock up on rare parts like this and I am certain I had an extra one. Let me check and get back to you.
