Default bad thermostat.. or leak?

well i brought my 02 millenia to the gas station because it was leaking all the radiator fluid so i thought there must be a leak, well the shop pressurized the cooling system and said they only found a slight drip which is normal and they wanted me to buy parts and replace them until it fixed the problem. i drove the car yesterday and it started to overheat so i checked my fluid and it was still filled.. could it be a bad thermostat?

maybe the overheat caused the fluid to leak from the reservoir through the pressure release tube
