Default 01 subwoofer in our 99

has anyone put the subwoofer from an 01 in an earlier car? i just picked up the amp and the sub off an 01. i went to get the rear swaybar, and got the amp+woofer for 25 bucks, so i figgered what the heck. i also got 3 coils for 20 bucks. got a nice handfull of 6 and 8 mm nuts and bolts, too. what a shame. the po apparently had some sort of running problem, cause they had pulled the injectors, and there was a used fuel pump assembly in a box. the intake was surprisingly clean, too. i was pleased to get the rear bar complete for 50 bucks. i dont really listen to music, just a news talk station on the radio, but my wife listens to a lot of music, so i would put the sub in her car

wow. that is a good find.

you will probably need a power source for the sub though I don't know where you would pull a good 12V high current source in the trunk. you then need signal. Probably a little line level adapter and variable corssover.

some wiring required but it is doable. certainly not a plug and play job. honestly I don't think it's worth it, but I would love to hear how it turns out

i cut the wires and kept the connectors to the amp and the sub. so at least i can trace what goes where, now all i need is a wiring schematic for an 01 with bose, compare it to the 99, and then i know if it will work. but if it is too much work, i think i can ebay both and get my money back, and for 25 bucks, it is worth a try. i actually was after the rear sway bar, which i got, and a bunch of nuts and bolts.

what I did was get a small JL 8" sub and a 250w amp dedicated for the sub. then modified the rear shelf a bit to fit it. used a spare bezel from a scrap car so I have my original one in tact

it sounds really good even open air. I always wanted to build a custom enclosure for it but honestly it wasn't worth my time.
