actually, this is an interesting note since your dash sensor could work but the one for the ECU could be off and you would never know

now that I think of that I think I'm going to OHM them both next time I'm in the neighbourhood
Hey where exactly is the dashboard one? Mine started acting up. The temp skyrockets at times. First time it happened I pulled the car, turn the heater to max and the fans are not even on and I could touch the engine block. Even if I turn off the engine the temp gauge still moves up and down fast enough not to be real. Now I knew its the dashboard sensor only but it is still very scary to see it lean to the top!

Ok so this is a crappy cell phone pic, but you can see this is from the rear of the engine where the coolant hoses plug in. One hose goes to the egr valve and the other goes to the heater core. easiest way to find this area is to find the egr valve and trace the left coolant hose down behind the valve cover. you should see the two sensors there.

I also stand corrected since one sensor has 2 pins. the second sensor has 1 pin. I'm not sure which is which but if you REALLY need to know i can always go dig through the wiring diagram for you.
