Happy New year! I noticed you mention you still have the p0400 code? So I take it that replacing the gas cap didn't actually solve the problem? I only ask because I am currently dealing with the same code. Well, at least you can add that as a feature on the listing "New Gas Cap!"

You know the odd thing? I did read about the gas cap issue with the Millenia written up somewhere else. The guy who posted the information said to get a "true" Mazda cap and not that AutoZone crap. Being that I was screaming by an Autozone one Saturday evening shortly before closing time, I nabbed one of their $8.00 specials. I guess I still wonder if that cap poses any compatibility issues with the Milly. I really should have then gone through Tasca Parts and spent the $16.00 or so to get the right cap - and, a cap that I could use my tether with. The OEM caps are so generic, you have to lay them down when you fuel your car up and hope like crazy you don't forget to put it back on because you're staring at some hot blonde at the other gas island pumper gas into her car.

Now, with that all aside, I did post my Milly on Craigslist late this afternoon. I indicated a firm price of $1,200 for it. I had a contact within 10 minutes - the guy was ready to pay cash - sight unseen. He met up with me after work and gave me a Benjamin as a down payment to hold it until noon tomorrow for him. He'll then give me 11 more Benjamins and he'll have his car dolly along so he can tow the car home and not need to have a 2nd driver along.

I've sold stuff pretty quick before, but I think 10 minutes really takes the record for me.

The Milly is gone. Signed bill of sale papers are in my hand, the car and keys are gone. 12 fresh Benjamins are in my pocket. I never thought selling the car would be this easy.

Now, I can use this to rub in my wife's face when she made me go through CarMax in 2010 to sell my Taurus. $250.00. Yes, they are very generous with their offers to buy your cars. Sadly, most of the high schools are moving away from technical and shop classes. If there were still a school around me that offered those courses, I would have donated the Taurus to them as opposed to having CarMax buy it from me. Have no fear... I will never - and, I mean NEVER buy a car from CarMax. "CarMax... where buying a car is like a cult experience."

I'm a little late to the party but thank you for the kind words T2T and wishing everyone a VERY Happy NEW YEAR. I am glad to hear you were able to sell your car with minimal effort.

I fully support your decision on moving on to a new more cost efficient vehicle. I'm sure you will not be disappointed in the long run. I too have taken that path and I'm proud to say I do not truly own a single Millenia these days (although I am still charged with the task of maintaining and upgrading them).

Randy,

Thanks. If there's ever anything you need me to get done for you back up here in NoVA, please let me know. You've done plenty of favors for me on here, and I'll always feel a need to repay some of those any way I can.

My range of services are pretty wide-ranging, too. From vigilante justice to delivering things to old friends of yours. Whatever, the case might be, just let me know.

Thanks,

Yes, who knows where all will end up. I'm sure at some point in time, some of us will be reunited in one way or another. My ultimate dream is to have a Jag with a 350 C.I. Chevrolet V8 in it. The kits (motor mounts, tranny mount, etc.) run about $1,500. You then find your V8 and start having fun. None of that Jaguar, hard to fix issues... nor the high frequency of failure of their engine components either.

However, such a project is just a fantasy and my wife would kill me if I ever even mentioned it to her. She'd not be happy to see my garage torn up for 6 months. But, I've seen such cars for sale for the range of $6,000 - and that included all the solenoids and switches in the dash and doors replaced. I failed to hop on that deal a few years back - which I should have done.

Glad you were able to get your Milly sold. AT that price I would have expected a quick sale. So, since many of you VERY knowledgable people are no longer going to be driving a Millenia please continue to peek back here from time to time to check all us out. I am saying this since I STILL HAVE TWO OF THEM! I have checked other forum sites out and there is not even close to the information of knowledge there compared to this site. I also will continue to help anybody out in any way I can.
Good Luck.

My issue wasn't with the the Millenia itself. I found my 2.5L pretty easy to work on. Parts, for the most part were still in fairly good supply. However, since I live in metro area, we have to be all politically correct with our car's emissions. Outside of buying the front pre-cat from the $tealer$hip, I was all ready to put on some new pre-cats, if I could find both of them in the external parts network. This kind of put a bit of fear into me. Plus, I'm not afraid to get my hands greasy, just not every weekend. I just wanted more free time - and less oil spots in my driveway.
