I was going to pull and clean my Throttle Body. I ordered a new throttle body gasket, and also ordered an IAC gasket (o-ring) while I was at it in case I wanted to pull the IAC and clean it.
I know you can clean the spring loaded style of IAC by cleaning the pointed cone end (and leaving the valve end alone). But I don't know if the IAC on the 2.3 is a spring loaded style, or some different designed that is best left alone. Anybody ever cleaned one before? Is it worth it, or should I leave it alone? Sorry if this has been answered before, I couldn't search the forums because you can't search for "iac" because it only has 3 characters....

i have one right here at my desk, and it looks like there is not much to get at to clean. i cant see any part that appears to be gummed up, like the bmw ones. access to the moveable innards is really tough. there is a water passage that can be cleaned, but i dont think the air passage is accessible.

Okay, thanks. That's what I thought. Probably nothing servicable on the 2.3 IAC. More of a non-servicable "black box" that would need to be replaced if it stopped working.

Well, I just received my $14.68 o-ring for the IAC. If you saw it you would laugh. That thing can't cost more than a nickel to make.
