It will take a few tanks of gas with Techron in them to clean the injectors. You will probably need to at least clean the sparkplugs. You cant fix the regulator. The plugwires might need replaced also.

bad bad news

so the car is running wonderfully or so it seems

so i took it to the gas station, put some air int he tires

took it around the block

it seems like it was stalling, so i gave it some gas

the knocking sound got much louder. the car starts serisouly smoking. i get back home after my mile long dirve and i open the hood to find oil sprayed all over. mostly in one corner. the car is idling worse than ever and the knocking sound is louder than ever. i think something slipped via the timing setup and blew some gasket fromt he pressure of driving.

i dont know how to trouble shoot this as i see no point of escape for the oil. just spray everywhere.

the car once had a timing problem where the gear that connects to the crankshaft stripped and the mechanic welded it on to save me money. he warned if it ever came loose that the engine would have to be taken out to be fixed and that wouldn't be cost effective.

could this be the source of my knocking sound? it does seem as if the timing is severely off. the knocking sound sound seems particularly pitiful and damaging now.

the oil is definaly a sign of something very bad going on.

can i readjust the timing my self with out screwing things up?

i took alook at the exhahust manifold today and the bolts seem so rusted that i'd surely crack them by taking them off. this are seems to be where the source of the knocking is coming from.

my thought sare kinda lost here as im really unsure of what i can do next with out putting in a new engine. i dont have lift nor the tools and skills it takes to fix it up. or maybe i do and i need a little hope?

who knows.

what are your thoughts about this?

Well first job is locate the leak. A knock is not good either. I don't know what to tell you without looking at the car =/
