can anyone help me? I have a mazda 323 1996 model, manual trans. I noticed that when I'm in 1st gear, even if I press harder the acceleration pedal, it seems that it lacks pulling power and the the rev doesn't increase. what seems to be the problem? thanks.

Do you experience power loss in all gears? Sounds like you might have a bad piece of intake system ducting and or vacuum leak. I'm not familiar with your particular automobile however I might suggest you do a thorough under hood visual and conditional inspection of all your inlet ducting and vacuum hoses and their connections. Make sure all gaskets and fasteners are in place and in good order. If anything is cracked, loose, worn or suspect, replace it.

My Mitsubishi Starion was experiencing loss of power and performance until I found a large crack on the inner convoluted bellows area of the intake duct that connected the air-box & MAFS to the F.I throttle body. It wasn't discovered until I removed this duct while performing an under hood inspection as it was invisible otherwise. Replaced the duct and some worn pieces of vacuum tubing and the car has ran great ever since.

Hope this helps and the best of luck.
