P0661? GF pulling CEL codes
So I am not new to car forums and I apologize that this is my first post as opposed to a "new member" introduction. I own a 2006 acura tsx so it isnt much use for me to post up in the new member section lol. I have used the search feature and have came up with nothing and google proves to be of no use either.
Issue:
GF's 2002 mazda protege finally has a CEL...on honda's its very easy to pull the codes (my 95 was easily done)...but I told her to take it to Autozone to get the codes pulled seeing as I assumed it was OBDII...either way she got the codes pulled and was given a piece of paper. Needless to say it says "PL0661" and "PL0661" only points to Mazda RX-8s. I have found nothing relating to the SSV Solenoid or "SSV Solenoid fix/repair" anywhere. I have asked her if the car does anything different that she can tell (I just recently got rid of my 95 accord due to CEL issues resulting in a bad ecu and bad distributor). I believe she also told me that the individual reported a knock sensor code as well as an Oxygen(O2) sensor? No evidence of this on the paper attached below.
I am a little ways away from her(45 minutes) so I cannot always be there readily for her to get this taken care of. My question is this....is there any easy way to pull the codes manually without a scanner on 2002 protege's? If not, what is the better route to take? She has inspection due by the end of this month and with all the things I need to take care of day in and day out I am trying to utilize the most out of my days to get this fixed. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you for taking the time to read my response!
p.s. - I have attached the photo which she sent me indicating this code...not that it matters but its all I have.
