I have a 1989 4cyl 2.0 carb 626. Right hand drive.
Currently I have done as much as possible to keep it in stock condition.....but now I'm going to upgrade it. Here is the list of mods that I have planned:
- K&N air filter
- Performance Coil
- Performance Plug Wires
- Performance Platinum Spark Plugs
- Convert to rear disc brakes
- Upgrade brake line to metal braided
- Change Engine to VQ30
- Install ABS
- Install Climate control air condition
- Convert to leather seats
- Upgrade music from stock system to top of the line audio system with nine speakers
- Remote power up/down windows
- Sound Proof/Noise Reduction

How does this sound so far?

I just installed a drop K&N air filter, Bosch Platinum Spark plugs and a Crane Cams Fireball PS60 Performance Coil.....

The around the block test drive seemed to indicate faster acceleration and faster response...
I'm going for a better test drive tonite.......I'll let you know how things went.......

626GrL, have you done any performance mods to your 626?

You said you'd like to change the engine, but I dont think you listed any mods that you have done.....

I have a planned modification, if that counts:

I recently purchased a 2002 KL from a Millenia. I plan on replacing the tired, oil burning KL in my 94 626 5 spd with it. This will be a warmer weather project, though. It's not gonna happen til about April.

I test drove the 626 with the mods I mentioned

It is definitely more responsive. It is much faster than before....My wife raced a civic and gave him a good run......

However I need to get some performance plug wires now....

Yes.

I've done the KLZE swap in an MX-3. This one should be easier.
