hi,

my timing belt makes a squeaking noise everytime i start it. it used to dissappear really quickly after starting the engine, but now it seems to take about 5 mins to go away (sometimes longer), even though i'm in AUST and it's approaching summer here. A friend told me it might be a bearing in one of the pulleys pulling the timing belt making the noise. Is this a valid point?

The squeaking is really really noisy and it doesn't seem to matter whether the car is warmed up or not.

any help is appreciated.

Hey you need to replace all your seals
the camshaft seals and the crankshaft seal
with the timing belt and water pump
maybe the pully
you just need to do a timing belt job.
you have oil leaking onto your timing belt that is making the belt make noise.
if you dont fix the problem you may lose the engine and the belt may slip off.

...or one of the tensioner bearings, or alternator bearing

well i my car looked at and it turned out to be three belts:

the alternator belt, the a/c belt and the p/steer belt

now the car is very quiet again... perhaps too quiet.
