Just thinking about some (cheap) alternative power for the 929. Don't think a 5.0 will fit in the engine bay, but maybe a 3.8 Camaro/Firebird motor would?

200hp, cheap aftermarket parts. Probably have to replace the entire drivetrain and have a special driveshaft made.

any inexpensive engines fit into this car with little trouble?

Would love to stick an old slant six in one, but they're too long.

3.4 Firebird engine is 160 hp with lots of torque, and can be had CHEAP.

i'd stay away from the 3800 V6's of the firebirds / camaros...

if i were going to look for something i'd be looking for something to fit in there, i'd be looking for something like a FE3 (can make huge turbo power and is already FWD) or someting like a S2000 engine that can make huge power...

isn't a fe3 like 140hp stock and 3.4 Firebird engine is 160 hp puting these engines in the car it just a waste the 929 is 195--200hp stock RWD.

if you are looking for power go with the supra engine or the 5.0

not looking for power. Looking for reliable, and inexpensive to repair engines.

Hmm... if I wanted power, I'd cut the fenderwells, cut back the firewall and drop a lightly modded 5.0 with about 350 horsies.

Isn't the 3.0 DOHC 929 motor a Hemi-head?
Why does this air pumping machine not make more power?

Umm... since when is a 929 FWD?

Also, a heavy ass car like the 929 needs TORQUE over high-revving power. These vehicles are already useless during acceleration, but great on the highway. Give me Torque , not a 9000 rpm redline S2000 Weedeater motor.

I have a 3.4 Firebird. Lets just say it outpulls the 929 and it's engine is way smaller.

Thinking this might be a good Frankenexperiment

But don't wanna chop up a perfectly good Bird
