I brougnt a 1989 929 a week ago and i just done the air filter and the exhaust but the n-1 muffler i got doesn't sound like other mufflers i hear on other cars
So the question is does the car have to be tuned a certain way to have certain sound or does the car make the difference [i]

Every car is going have its own unique sound based on engine, size, piping diameter and muffler/cats used. What engine do you have ? I have used a catback N1 muffler before, I wasnt to impressed with the way it sounded and it got real lound in the end. My new set up is better now with a added resonator.
What sound are you comparing it too ? What sound are you tryin to achieve ?

I think man thta car sound"s nice when i at a light and i hear an hinda or a okder bmw and they sound nice but its like mine is way louder i was going to gut the cat out but i heard it makes th ecar even louder i"m glad i didn"t do that cause i want 2 do a lot to this car

Single or twin cam ? is yours auto or 5 speed.
Is yours an axle back or cat back ? what size piping do you use. Your not being really descriptive here and your punctuation is way off...

I have an auto and its a single cam as far as the cat i don't really know i put the pipe on my self with my welding torch i took off the resonator and just rain a straight pipe there as far as the size of the pipe what ever came with the car

So basically you have a 1.75" cat back and N1 muffler ? is your a 90mm or 120mm ?
I have messed with the exhaust 3 times & Im happeist with my current set up. 2.25" catback with a sebring resonator & twin resonated tips. Youve just straight piped the resonator, when I did this I found that this wasnt enough back pressure. It was loud, I lost low end torque. Either way I think the HC needs a muffler under the back seat otherwise its loud. Your situation might be different since you stuck with small OEM piping. Dont expect this single cam to sound like a Honda, BMW, or Nissan. It has its own unique sound. After using an N1, I dont think I use it unless I went turbo. A chamber muffler might work well. Choose your exhaust system wisely and youll be happy.
