i dont care if i replace pads often theyre cheap enough and ive been running 4 months now on these pads, still over 85% pad remaining.
i definitely was thinking looks... and yeah, some of the additional cost was a new tranny pan, gasket, fluid, caliper paint, etc.. some supplies like releasall and a piece of pipe for a snipe.. |

Yeah that tranny pan musta ran you quite a bit. Did you replace the oil filter in the tranny?

yup new gasket and new filter
also i couldnt do a tranny flush or anything cuz it hasnt been serviced i was told that adding new fluid in a total replacement with a flush would take protective varnish off the parts and lead to wear and failure on a tranny thats seen probably 150,000km since a service... so i added 1.5L of lucas tranny fix and 0.5L of tranny fluid and put in a new filter and it seems to be just fine |

thats sucks about the oil pan, at least your using the good stuff.

yeah sorry to hear about the pan, i'm lucky to have 2 spare trannys. The crap people tell you about flushing the tranny will kill it is bs. Usually people flush their trannys when they are about to die and of course flushing dont fix it, so the trannys just die because they are broken. I would just build in a drain plug in the tranny pan and drain the fluid a couple oil changes in a row.
Did you check the fluid on level ground with the engine running after you filled it up? |
|
|||
|
yeah i perfectly refilled it half lifter at a time.
and the reason i bought the whole varnish thing was my ace old school mechanic confirmed that tidbit for me after 2 transmission shops told me about it. one shop run by a gnarly old mopar expert who builds 10 second cars in his spare time flat out REFUSED my business he said he would NOT do it to my transmission and that was that, turned down 250bux worth of service... so it made me stop and think and check around. otherwise, if it really is safe, ill switch out the fluid with 100% synthetic amsoil tranny fluid and throw a bottle of fix in. |

well i wouldn't go as far as throwing synthetic fluid in the tranny, but yeah its safe to "flush" and by flush i mean change out the fluid every 500 miles a few times in a row. I wouldn't trust those flush machines with my tranny. Actaully i wouldn't trust any mechanic with my car. The reason i wouldn't put synthetic in my tranny is because i would flush it out 30k later and its just not worth because ti basically wont do mutch in the tranny. In an atx al the fluid does in basically push a piston in and out, if there werent other parts that rub like the oil pump you could use any liquid and it would work just fine.
