if i was just gonna throw new headers on theyd be custom made for best performance and then id just supercharge the engine..
with a nice bigass fuckin twin screw deal. all i knwo about twinning it so far is that the custom aprts for rebuilding the JE48 and preparing it properly for twinning is gonna be 6 to 8 grand. a REGULAR rebuild is 47 hours shop time by the book and the parts from mazda cost like 4 grand. so one thing at a time.. supercharge or turbo.. either one requires a rebuild beforehand for common sense reasons, and at almost 300,000km.... its about time. we were gonna throw in a 20b twin turbo out of a COSMO but.... meh... |

see at those prices you might as well just pay to have another engien with a bigger aftermarket put it. Trust me i would love to see the original engien performing 400 whp but it'll cost around 10 grand. Oh and 4k to rebuild a je48 is bs i think its like 1500$ in parts and noooo way does it cost 2500 in labor. If you do rebuild you engien i've got a set of heads and a couple blocks. I actually dont need a block so if you want it it's yours just pay the shipping.

48 hours labour is what the book said, i looked at the actual factory book at the mechanics..
85 dollars an hour labour rate = 3500ish CAD... fuckin ridiculous id do it with buddies but still forged parts, reinforced everything for turbos etc? that **** would all be custom made i bet i know itd be smart to get a new engine, thats why i havent gone too far with this one but its been 1,000 USD just to do the timing and waterpump/seals etc.. hydraulic tensioner, new bolts for EVERYTHING, the whole 9 yards all replaced... 48 hours labour is what the book said, i looked at the actual factory book at the mechanics.. 85 dollars an hour labour rate = 3500ish CAD... fuckin ridiculous id do it with buddies but still forged parts, reinforced everything for turbos etc? that **** would all be custom made i bet i know itd be smart to get a new engine, thats why i havent gone too far with this one but its been 1,000 USD just to do the timing and waterpump/seals etc.. hydraulic tensioner, new bolts for EVERYTHING, the whole 9 yards all replaced... and i figured shed put down about 480 with a few other tweaks n ****.. we arent talkin small turbos here either ![]() but yeah for sure 10K |

![]() The reality for us 929 owners is that the 13B is our only "close" 400HP option; but your either a rotary guy or NOT. ![]() For us who drool over displacement, we just witnessed a small block Ford V8 get wedged into a 929 engine bay. Even an inline 6 fits fine (read: Skyline RB motor). Im with Dmeetro on this an LS1 sounds wonderful. I personally like a twin cam 4.5L Nissan V8 revving past 7000RPM. $10,000 = 400HP TT JE48 less than $10,000 = small block V8 or I6 of your choice & more $ to spend on other mods. Petcan for $750 I could of got you exhaust built with mandrel bends down in Vancouver but it really isnt a 12 hours drive. At least your happy with it. Now find a way to get a sound/video clip.

Compression or boost won't kill the motor. Detonation will. You tune the car perfect and it'll last. If there is one thing that I could teach anyone thinking of doing any remotely powerful is that you <div align="center">NEVER SKIMP ON THE TUNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On another note, I know I live kind of far away from you(Fargo-Moorhead, ND-MN), but I own a performance/fab shop. We can do custom TIG'd stainless exhaust(mandrel), manifolds/headers, IC setups, etc. Unfortunately, I only have access to an HC DOHC in house. |
