Hi everyone, i have a 1990 Mazda 929 V6i hardtop, been going well, but recently the cruise has stopped working, the on and off button for it seems to switch on as the light comes on on the dash. but when i take it out on the road, and you go to press the set button on the steering wheel, nothing happens. I have suspected some main causes so far:
* Brake light adjusting nut, which is fine. * Cruise control actuator and cable, I have changed the unit with another out of another spare parts car, i have, and still doesn't work. * I have suspect the steering wheel connector clock spring which connects the steering wheel with the steering column. But I have kinda rules this out, as the horn works fine. My question is, is there somethin like a speed sensor in the instrument/speedo cluster or on the transmission, which could have failed? Also, is there a fuse for the cruise control, because I have looked everywhere i can think of, still cant find one. Any ideas/help is greatly appreciated. Abdul of Australia |

There is a fuse, under the dash. Check under the hood, too.

Make sure your hose that goes on the intake to the cruise conrol has not came off.
it might have broke 929 don't have a fuse under the hood Even if the cruise control it the light on the button has went out that doesn't mean thats your problem sometimes the switch goes bad too

cruise control has three elements
1. electronic 2. vacuum 3. Mechanical electronic: could be the buttons on the wheel that have worn could be that the controller does not get signal/actuator Speed sensor may not send signal to the controller/actuator earthing of the controller Cruise runs off the SUNROOF fuse(by diagram) Controller has died Vacuum: check the hoses that are going to the controller (worn, cracked, etc) - however this usually supported by rough running/idle (not always) Mechanical: check the cable itself, if its loose or broken you will get no action and finally the Actuator itself (ether electronics in it, or gearing) This is troubleshooting from the Factory Manual |

its better to use Cruise it will save you fuel... well if your O2 sensor is good
also with the speeding fines its a good feature, i remember getting one that was for 1km/h over (61 in 60 zone, but it was alright as at that time in my 626 i had no speedo at all )
