i just used the wire in the diognostics port and it said code nine, which if my literature is correct is a water thermosensor(thermostat?) but the problem i am having is with the motor cutting out and bogging down really bad. i wouldnt think these two would be inter related. any suggestions?

I don't think that those are related. Never had a problem with code 9. But I had problem once when my car died middle of the road and when I started my car again white smoke came out. Later I found the problem was when I changed air filter with K&N and my pcv valve was bad so I guess that the stronger air suction sucked oil trough pcv valve to air intake. when I removed filter and intake they were full of oil. I cleaned up and removed the hose between intake and pcv valve and now no more problems. It died because motor got oil trough intake instead air. I don't know if you found this helpful but if you ever have similar problems you can check this out. ok have gday

Yeah if your air filter is real dirty it might just start cutting off when ever you come to a stop or slow down real fast.(man the pcv is hard to get to on the S.H.O.C.
I had that problem when I switched to C.A.I.)
I kept think it was my Mass flow air sending unit.
But after buying a new on it still did the same thing in-till I just brought me another filter

which brings up another good point i meant to ask, where is the fuel filter? i was lookin and couldnt find it this is also a good suggestion that i (sometimes retarted apparently? because it started happening after i put some lucas uppercylinder lube and fuel injector cleaner, it was really oily in consistancy, could clog the filter.

jep it so nice to meet somebody over here who has a same car. I once changed the fuel filter it was under the car on rear and on the driver side but the problem is I don't remember if it was MX6 or 929 it was long time ago but still both are mazda and I think it should be same. so let me know if you found it.
