91 929s tranny hold button flashing & speedometer out

After sitting for 2.5 years, I just got my 91 929s dohc going again (I'm the second owner). Now two new problems: 1. the "HOLD" light for the shifter is flashing on the dash and 2. the speedometer is dead. The tranny seems to be shifting reasonably well. Anyone know if the problems are related? Could the speedo cable be loose and cause both problems? Is it serious or just a code thing? Please advise. Thanks. -Wampum

flashing HOLD relates to an electrical issue
if your speedo is not working, gearbox ecu cannot get speed signal and hence it belives that there is an issue

solve your speedo i'm sure HOLD will stop flashing

929S's don't have a speedo cable
theres a speed sensor on the transmission. costs about $150

Yes, it causes both problems, i had the same too. I got under the car and found the previous owner had disconnected it.
