Hi all, my mazda 90 model 929 has always had a problems kicking over 1st go or 2nd and then 3rd, not matter if i pump the ecclerater or not, wether it be in the moring or in the arvo, if it has been left for a while it takes a few times kicking over before it starts. My father who had it for 18 years lived with the problem after numerous visits and services from mazda, I CANT. Mazda put on a start like button on the dash, supposedly it pumps fuel into the car quicker and makes it start straight away...NOTTT...
anyone have any ideas what i could do to get it starting first go each time, i mean it has 89,000ks on the clock, it cant be cause the engine has probs.....its service every 5000 or so k's and has been for 18 years......

any ideas mazda 929 people....????

Do you have to give it gas for it to kick. Have you replaced the cap and rotor, Plugs and wires? If you haven't it's a good idea to do so.

yep done all that as far as mazda goes...well they said they did....and still no result.

i dont have to keep kicking it in the guts to turn over, it just dont fire up straight away like a dohv efi should, well im assuming anyhow...

my old skyline i had before this was an 89 model with over 200k's plus and without fail started first turn of key, cold moring or not.

maybe you have a ground wire loose

does the starter click when you turn the key a couple of times before it starts up

our dohc does that too. but it always starts after the second try. Check the ground for the starter.

Can be problems with compression (valves/gaskets/rings)
can be checked with a compression test and a leakdown test.

plugs, plugwires. rotor and dizzy.
seal on dizzy, make sure there is no water/moisture in the dizzy.
that the plugs are not loose.

Coil. the measuring procedure is somewhere on this forum.

check the ground for engine, maybe add an extra ground wire to engine and test starting.
