Since I'm from the UK where all cars have a side repeater for turn signals I find it strange that the 929 has the front turn signals hidden away recessed into the front bumper. I've recently added brighter orange bulbs to my two parking lights and then wondered whether it might be a good idea to turn those two into the front turn signals and have the original turn signal light as the parking light. Does anyone know if that would be possible/legal/easy task?

Vary easy I just did something like this when I mounted my KDM projectors. I left the front turn signal and wired the orange half of the park lights to it. Now I have a turn signal in the front and on the side. All I did was cut the wires for the orange park lights and wire them parallel to the front turn signal.

That sounds like an even better plan. Do you think you could sketch out a very simply diagram of what to connect to where? I don't want to go and cut anything without being 100% sure what to connect it to.

Actually I'm wondering whether to have the front turn signal (orange) lights stay on all the time and just wire the two clear parking lights as the turn signals (a simple swap, leaving the orange parking lights as they are). Would having such a small bulb as the only front turn signal be legal?

I say stick with what I said earlier. It's easy and it didn't cause anything abnormal. The 2 turn signals (one in front and the orange side marker together), flash the same as the single front one did before the mod was done. Daytime running lights would be cool but you can just turn the switch and it's the same thing, not worth the hassle in my opinion.

The JDM market HC's had optional automatic headlights. That would be cool and worth the hassle. ESP when you tell your friends and they go: What? Are you for real? Not on a old car like that one. Then you can talk crap about the *many* options their 2006 Chevy ecobox has, like roll up windows or whatever.

Did you change the ground? Because I notice the two side marker lights share one ground cable. Not sure exactly of the correct way to wire the orange side light to the turn signal.

This is how I wired mine up. The (+, -) may not be accurate, but it isn't hard to find out.

Okay so I did this minor modification and I think it's great and makes way more sense. Having the orange side marker lights as turn signal repeaters certainly looks like a stock setup and it makes me wonder why it wasn't done in the first place, especially since it's arguably safer and there's already front/side marker lights next to them.

mazdaspeed929: thanks for the help!

Thanks, it's what I do. I think everyone should do this to their HC because it does make so much sense.
