maybe its not seated correctly in the upper shaft end?
or the lower and upper part of the dizzy came loose? or maybe the rotor is eating the cap? could you describe the knocking sound?

u can use a screwdriver, or a stethoscope to pinpoint the sound.
could be the new dizzy, so maybe u can fix the old one and fit it. also it can be that the upper/lower part of the dizze are loose. dont know if mazda used two part dizzys, but i once kicked a volvo dizzy sligthly apart, and there was some sound and movement from it.
