Default my 929 is bogging down from 0-40 mph

my mazda has been acting strange, it randomly bogs down from 0-40 mph like barely accelerates and then slowly starts to, other times it will accelerate properly, if I push the pedal down slowly it accelerates better than if i put it down to the floor! I think to clean throttle body and change fuel filter, but I want to hear what some of you smart guys think, also what type of cleaner should i use for the throttle body... etc thanks...

u can use degreaser.
You should take a look at the MAF.

Is it road speed related, or engine revs related?

Eg, does it bog down 0-40mph, or does it bog down below 4000rpm?

def 0-40 mph, the car runs but its def not performing as well as it could u know, i feel like its getting choked.. air filter is good, its old, 200000 miles, but still feel like it could be a simple fix..

You probably have a VAF, not a MAF

VAF - Volume air flow sensor
MAF - Mass air flow sensor

It will be attached in series with the intake, most as a part off the airfilter box.

The VAF is a flap connected to a potentiometer, and it will let the engine know how much air volume is passing by the sensor. Its quite easy to clean, in opposition to MAF.

But, first.

Try pulling some codes. If you are lucky the error codes will tell you what is broken.

first i would reset the ECU.

the way i do it:
> disconnect negative battery
> press down break pedal for 10 seconds
> pump (press and release) the pedal 5 times
> reconnect the battery
> let the car idle to operating temperature (10-15 minutes)

this will ensure that if you do have any codes they will be current.

you have a VAF 100% (vain air flow meeter/volume air flow meeter) it is either a trap door(flap) or press down cone (really depends on your model, if 87 in your name is car year you will have trap door(flap) if you have HD up you will have the cone system.

either unit does not require cleaning.

our air filter is 200000 old???

i would run checks and replace simple/cheap things.
1. replace air filter
2. replace sparks and leads
3. replace fuel filter
4. check and reset timing (after the above)

also i would try to track down if its a particular gear that it does it in and rev range.

Default Fuel Filter + Air Filter

I know this is quite late, however I had the same sort of problem, especially going up hills or with a heavy load in the car.

I had the air filter and in line fuel filter replaced and it works pretty much like it used to now. I was told it was caused by 'fuel starvation'
