Can anyone tell me the shift points for a 1988 automatic sohc 929. I think I may have lost Overdrive and I would like to know what the rpms are supposed to be at 60, 65,70, 75 mph? Thanks, also just put new exhaust on car and i get the smell of gas when i dont let it warm up for long time or just randomly when driving.. fuel filter? or what?> also is it possible to switch of to synthetic oil with this car 210,000 miles... I have problems with a lifter and i thought synthetic oil may help this?

I found some numbers for you from the manual.
d range power
half throttle
52-56 - 4400-4760
62-67 - 3400-3600
74-78 - 4080-4280
97-102 -3800-3960

If you can smell gas when you are driving i would check hoses, seals and connections connected to the fuel system.

It is possible to switch to synthetic oil. How risky it is depends on how dirty your engine is. Synthetic oils are said to be more cleaning than mineral, and when you switch grit and gum would be released.But i have not witnessed this myself.
