Default my car is in a coma

well i went out to go meet with my group on the 2nd and i got to the end of my street, and the car started to make clunking sound and it died right as i started to move into traffic and i had to jump out and move it back into my street and away from all the cars! (not easy to do with a 3600lb car up a 15 degree hill!) i tried to turn her back over and she tries to start but just wont get there and there are times where all you hear is the starter and other times where it sounds like a turbo spooling up. from what i can tell it might have been the T-belt, but i have no tools to change it and no garage to do so in so, that is out of the question for me to do it.

i dropped it off at my main shop yesterday and am waiting to hear from them on what i was if it turns out to be exactly that, then i will either have them replace the belt and re-time the engine, or have them source me a 2jz-gte and tranny with ecu and make a custom wiring harness for 10-15k installed and running.

only issue is that in my state you have to swap engines from the same year or newer so i would need a motor out of a 1993 or newer supra and have paperwork to show that and then there is the emissions stuff to deal with and etc, etc.

hope whatever it is goes easy on your pocket

that sucks, hoping the clunk-clunk did not reek to much havoc. gl

If the timing belt snaps then the cams will not turn, no air or fuel goes into the cylinder.
If the timing belt skips a tooth then the engine can possibly start and run.

you can be able hear if the cams are not turning, since the sound it makes while turning is different.

yeah dude just have the shop change the timing belt and check for compression to start...

what state are you in 10-15k for a stock 2j swap is downright nuts. they have shops around here that will get it done for 5k max

i live in GA, but the price is for a complete turn key swap with rebuilt engine, wiring harness, custom mounts, 5 speed tranny.

i am having them check the motor first because i already have some plans to use a STS style turbo setup on it seeing as there is practicly no room and trying to do a turbo setup on the je-30 is proving to be very difficult from the engine bay mostly the routing of the exhaust to the turbo.

that and my exhaust guy is going to be fabricating some high flow headers for my car and the size im going with is going to prevent me from routing the exhaust to the engine bay, so STS style is my only option.

the pros out weigh the cons. turbo stays cooler, and i can use a larger turbo than i was planing originally to use a t3/t4 but due to the space i will have from the STS mounted i can run a garrett GT32 or GT35/R

the only con really is slightly increased turbo lag.
(i will be runnig some form of aftermarket ecu and fuel controller system not sure which one yet)

Have you checked for fuel first? Simple and easy to check.
Could just be a blocked filter or your fuel pump chucked it in.

yeah, i checked that it isn't cycling and the tank was a replacement one that i paid (in everyone else's eyes wasted money, lol) good money for, cleaned out and pressure tested so no posiblilty there.

i told my shop to look into the fuel pump first before i let them do a timing belt but they and i are both pretty sure it is the t-belt as the crank is spinning faster than usual just from tring to start.

First of all it's spelled carpal tunnel, not carpool tunnel lol...that sounds like you inherited a highway.
