Default Noisy 929 - Creaking like a wooden boat

My old 89 is making a racket when it moves. Sounds like an old wooden ship. I know it's probably due to worn out rubber things but don't know where to start or if I can still gets mounts for this thing. In the rear there are the two what look like subframe locating thngs. The are right about in the center of the rear doors and very much where I put my jack for lifting the rear of the car. They look pretty beat and they look like they might have had son big rubber blocks between them and the car body. There's the trailing arm nearby too but the rubber bush still appears a bit solid. Then there the subframe mounts themselves which I've only seen inthe reapir manual. Is this entire area prone to getting squeaky and noisy over time? Are replacement rubber or plastic mounts available for replacement? When moving very very slow I can feel the squeakiness in the floor, I almost thought my wheels were rubbiing but they are fine. Really bad struts cause this noise? Can I still get the strut mounts for this car? I'd swap out the adjustable struts for some Monroe struts meant to replace the electric ones. Is this all just noise, meaning ok to drive?

Can you hear the creaking all the time? or is it more pronounced when turning, accelerating / decelerating?

For more info on bushings and subframe check out the "Fc3s subframe spacers?" thread.

Creaks all the time. Very pronounced at low speed mostly because no highway/wind noise. Steers fine. Sound is no better or worse under acceleration/deceleration. 165,000 miles, w original adj struts. If it starts to show itself as being relable again I may go through the work to get it close to very nice again. As is I wouldn't be surprised to see it go to well over 200K miles. Oil every 3K, no adding in between. Leaky trans pipes fixed with rubber hose but I have the new metal ones. A/C broken from a long sitting idle period. Small charge and the compressor kicked in and it blew some cool air. All I need do now is find the leaks and fix them and it'll be a major keeper then, might even put it back into commuter service.

My buddy had this problem w/ his 89 929, check the front/rear strut brushing, my buddy had brand new brushings but he greased them and the creaking noise went away.

Yup, front links were gone, rears were none to healthy. Replaced all 4 and the car quieted right down. Ran quiet enought to sell so it's now gone, I only have one left now and it's starting to get on my nerves now too so it might be sold too. 22years of 929's, time for a change.
