Hi all,
Have a 1997 Mazda MPV and I just ran a computer check because I had a check engine code. It was P0420 and comes up as "Catalyst System Efficency Below Threshold (Bank 1). Can anybody tell me what I should be looking for to correct this problem or should I not worry about it. Thanks Gary |

There are O2 sensors before and after the front converter. One sensor reads O2 straight out of the manifold, the other reads O2 after the front converter. If the converter is doing it's job then these 2 sensors should read drasticlly different. If the converter is failing then the sensors are reading close to the same and sets that code. I would have that converter checked.
