I have a 95 MPV making a clicking noise when it's cold. I've been told that it's the valve lifters and that it's nothing to worry about. The noise goes away on it's own after several minutes driving. Are noisy valve lifters nothing to worry about? Is there anything I can do to get rid of it?

wouldnt bother me to much, had cars that did it for years and still ran. you could try some slightly thinner oil, get it pumped into the heads quicker...that may minimize it.

i run 5-30 i believe... helps quiet it down alot...

i also flushed the engine, which cut down on it ALOT.

basically, you can do that, or get new lifters (and they are not cheap, each...)

This is a common problem, some have used Marvel Mystery oil.
Check out this link for more info:

I have tried a lot of different additives in my 1992 mpv v6 but they didn't make much difference then I tried Castrol 10w30 fully synthetic oil and wow what a difference. It only lasts about 3000 kms though which can get expensive with syntec oil I guess it's probably due to the high temperature on this engine. The other thing I found to be important is to use the filter they sell at the Mazda dealership, it doesn't cost any more than jobber filters but it seems the noise is quieter. I live in the cold Canadian climate so when it dips down to minus 20 celcius it gets a bit noisey even with the syntec.

Hope this helps.

Pretty common problem. However it will eventually cause the top of the valves to pit which will require a valve job in addition to new HLA's and shafts.

I bought one but I'm not aware that It really doesn't fit to where it should be put..please help thanks in advance
