I have had my 1992 mpv 3l v6 for two years now and in the winter when the weather gets to around 10 degrees below freezing my transmission shifts slow.
Normally the tranny has a shift at around 80 kmh (50 mph) and the rpm goes from 3000 to around 2300 and then approach 3000 rpm by 100 kph. When its cold even after warming the engine for 10 minutes the tranny will not shift the final shift until I drive for about 5-10 minutes. The motor will hit 3500 rmp at 100 kph (65 mph) even if I go faster there is no shift so I slow down below 100 to avoid damage. In the summer there is no problem even if I pull a tent trailer through the mountains it shifts fine. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks. |

I'm not sure but it may be a "feature" built in. On the ranger/b-series the tranny would not shift into overdrive until they were at operating temp...obviously this takes longer when its cold, if thats the case for the mpv also, its normal...and even though the motor may be warm after 5 minutes the tranny hasnt moved yet so its still cold
