Last night while driving home...my MPv just stopped. There was plenty of juice, head lights, radio etc. It just stopped. I try turning it on and i can feel the engine turn, but it wont go. There was no smell of gas, which made me believe the fuel pump or filter my have died.

I checked the distributor cap and replace coil...but no luck.

i read the manual and it says to depressurized the fuel line before removing filter...but i can start the engine...so is there another proper way of doing this?

any other suggestions of solutions? could the air filter also be a cause?

btw...i bridged the terminal and i could hear the fuel pump when switch is on...so it seems the fuel pump is still alive.

oh well...

any help appreciated!

There should be a check valve on the fuel rail/intake to depressurize the fuel line (highest point in the system), i dont know exactly where it is on the mpv but there should be one somewhere.
did you pull any of the plugs to see what they looked like? test for spark?

Ok..i got a new fuel filter...but now the hoses are so tight they wont slide out....is there some kind of trick or spray or something i could use to take them off...technically this should be an easy operation and thanx to murphy's law...its taking me moretime than it should to replace the filter.

any ideas?

hmmm...I belive there is a "special" tool to break those fittings loose. I dont know what its called, or even if the mpv has what I'm thinking of. Autozone or pep boys or whatever should have it though.

Her '89 MPV died sudendly after running normal. I inspected the distributor and the spark was weak any way to make story short we replaced the entire distributor because it was cheaper than replacing just the ignition module and it WORKED for 30 minutes and it die againg like before, so now I do not know what is causing the module to break? any tougths I'll apreciate any help
