91 mazda mpv

My wife was traveling down the highway doing 65 when the belt snapped. my question is... i really cant afford to replace car or have mechanic do work...i have been doing most of my work for years but i dont know how to check for collateral damage on this problem...i know that most likely i have valve damage but how do i check this out

any suggestions?

Yes most likely your valves are bent because the MPV has an Interference Engine if it was non Interference then all you had to do was change the belt. I believe a compression test will tell if the valves are bent.
